So this was the toughest recording of Bonnaroo. The only weather we saw that
weekend other than heat and dust (that’s weather!) was during the first 20
mins of KOL. There was lightning and thunder and the venue cleared the VIP
bleachers. So some rain drops, wind and thunder can be heard in the first 20
mins or so. What makes it all worse is the fact that the speaker stacks
are moving in the wind on top of regular wind effects. So it starts off very rough
and gets progressively better as the show goes on. If you were there you
might enjoy it all, if not, skip ahead if the sound is not to your liking.
Famously, the front of house stage power went out during track 10 Razz. The
band had no idea and kept jamming. You can still hear them playing all the
way to the soundboard and beyond, just with their onstage amplification.
Caleb does a little pout before The Bucket when the roadie gives him the bad
news. Power is restored, weather begins to subside, and they finish strong!
There are a couple of fade out/in where I saved the recording. I had
earlier lost part of a different show due to battery failure and didn’t want the
same problem here. Nothing was missed, all saved during on stage pauses.
Great show, they deserved the main stage this year, after working up
from tent and Which in years past. KOL are unabashed rock and should be caught
on their next visit to your town. Their albums are progressively better
as well, the new one is infectious. Enjoy! -Basshead
